Mrs. Vera Williams

Mrs. Vera Bell Castleberry Williams, was born on Jan. 6, 1935, to the late Mrs. Lucille Williams Thornton and Mr. James Castleberry in Greenville, AL. She united with her heavenly husband, the late Mr. James E. Williams, Jr. on February 15, 2022. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, James and Edward Cox, a great-grandson Tyrin Dubose, 2 sons-in law Edward Cox and Leon Mollette, 4 brothers, Jasper, Nathaniel, James, and Willie Williams, 2 sisters Mary Thornton and Mary Latimore, 2 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. Mr. & Mrs. Williams were united in Holy Matrimony on Heart Day, Feb. 14 th , 1954. Their union produced 6 devoted children, Larry Williams, Gerry Williams, Felicia Williams and Brenda Williams, Anglan “Angie” Cox, and Vera Alexander all Mobile, AL. One devoted adopted son, Timothy (LaTonya) Williams. Mrs. Williams was also blessed with a bonus daughter, Joyce Livingston, and a guarding daughter, Sheronica Williams. A God-daughter Eugenia Rummel, God-son Bernard Edwards. Mrs. Williams attended Greenville Training School and was later pinned as a Nurse through the American Red Cross. She strived to be her own boss and filed to be an independent Private Duty Home Nurse where she served the Mobile area for many years. Mrs. Vera worked on the side of her husband as a member of the NAACP, the Tenant Association of the Mobile Housing Board, MAC Act Committee (Minorities Affairs Committee), the MCPSS Integration Protest Committee, and the Mobile Voting Rights Committee. These programs were put in place to assist the Greater Mobile minority people. Not only was she a great community leader, but she was also a great mother, grandmother (great and great-great), a wonderful cook and a brilliant Seamster. Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish her devoted children as mentioned, numerous devoted of grandchildren, very devoted Angel Cox and Sheronica Williams, great- grands, great-great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted nieces Priscilla Jordan, respectfully Loretta Gaitor, devoted nephew Carl Williams, many friend, devoted Gloria Johnson, neighbors/friends Eton Lee, Daisy Harris, Anthony, Deacon, and Respectfully Voncile Ali.
